COMPETITION DETAILS

In today’s fast paced world with time short and our next generation being caught up in the world of video games, PCs and iPods, Vaggs Hobbies is encouraging those with a fancy to build a model, enter, have some fun and maybe win themselves a prize and accolade as the Shires best ‘out of the box’ model maker in their class!

General Rules

The competition is open to modellers of all ages, with particular attention to first time/amateur builders, including a ‘Young Builders Award’ for modellers aged 15 and under.

The competition is strictly ‘out of the box’ model building. As we appreciated the amazing detail our fellow scratch builders can create, Vaggs Hobbies is encouraging up and coming model makers to have a go . . .

Entries will open on Monday the 1st of March 2010, and close on Sunday the 11th of April 2010. A special VIP Judging night with the winners announced at the Vaggs Miranda store on Wednesday the 14th of April 2010.

Entry Fee

Entry is free when you spend more than $40.00 on plastic kits and will include a free 1/35th scale Italeri Hummer Stinger kit (Limited to the first 50 entries only) to build and enter in the special Hummer Build-off. Entrants will also receive a 10% discount on glues, paints and brushes during March 2010.

If you already have a model you would like to submit to our VIP Judges, an entry fee of $10.00 for each model entered is required on application.

Prize & Awards

There will be awards and prizes for each class including the ‘Young Builders Award’ and a prize for the best Italeri Hummer Stinger submitted in the ‘Hummer Build-off’

The Classes

(There are four categories to enter, Aircraft, Military, Street and Sci-Fi, PLUS a special class, the ‘Hummer Build-off’)

Military - LOCK, N, LOAD TROOPS!! If Army vehicles and Navy ships are you’re passion, then take command of that glue, have your paints in formation and start building! Build your favourite Army tank, armoured car, soft skinned military vehicles and/or the mighty battleships! You can model ancient to modern mecha, trebuchet to tank, missile to monitor, Artillery, nuclear subs and figures, anything built for battle! (Concept, prototype and production models are all open to modellers too!)

SO CRANK OVER THE SHERMAN OR WEIGH ANCHOR, THE CHOICE IS UP TO YOU . . .

Aircraft - PREPARE FOR FLIGHT BRIEFING!! We know you have a love of all things aeronautic, then strap in, clear the prop and start building! If it flies, glides, hovers or floats, yesteryear to modern you can enter it here. Covers jets old n new, civil and military, missiles, aerial oddities as well as well as experimental aircraft! So let your modelling dreams take flight! OVER AND OUT . . .

Street - GET READY TO RACE!! Automotive fans get ready to pop the modelling clutch and burn scale rubber!! Anything on wheels can be entered, from model T ford to land speed car, trucks and motorbikes. Custom to production, 2 to 12 cylinders, steam to jet. The highway is open!
DRIVERS START YOURE ENGINES . . .

Sci-Fi - COMMUNICATION FROM STAR COMMAND TO ALL SPACE CADETS!! Attention all crew! Here is your chance to model your favourite Sci-Fi or fantasy subject, from movies, TV series, books or your own imagination. Create whatever your inkling. From Figures to Robots, Monsters and Laser-guns and a Space Ship or two, start welding plasticanium! END TRANSMISSION-STARDATE 010310 . . .

By signing the VMMC 2010 entry form the participant agrees to abide by all the rules governing this event, and the judges’ decision will be final.

I indemnify the organisers, Vaggs Radio Models and Hobbies, the staff and any sponsors from any claim, loss, and damage to models submitted in this event.

On Sundays, the track open from 9:15am with racing starting at 10:30am sharp.
 

On Tuesdays, the track open from 6:15pm with racing starting at 7:30pm sharp.
 
SMA has a permanent track and drivers stand with a professional AMBrc timing system.

Members is now open for 2010. New members $45.00, existing financial members, $35.00

Race fees are as follows: $10.00 members/ $15.00 non members.
